Jim Bridger
New Orleans Public Belt Railroad


James E. Bridger, General Manager of the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad. Mr. Bridger attended Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia. He began his railroad career in 1975 as a brakeman/conductor with the Norfolk Southern & Western Railroad in Virginia. Upon graduation from Roanoke College in 1977 he was hired by the Union Pacific Railroad in Omaha, Nebraska. During his tenure in the operating department Mr. Bridger was appointed to the position of General Manager of Operations for System Coal & Bulk Train Movements. In 1995 Mr. Bridger left Union Pacific to become Senior Vice-President of Western Union/First Data Corporation. In 2000 he was appointed President of the New York & Atlantic Railroad where he served until accepting the position of General Manager with the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad in late 2001.

Student Port of New Orleans Boat Tour and Social

On Friday, October 19th the World Trade Club hosted a tour of the Port of New Orleans on board the port’s fireboat GENERAL KELLY and a social that followed on the riverfront in front of the Port of New Orleans Administration building.
